Meditation:

\medəˈtāSH(ə)n/

(n): think deeply or focus one's mind for a period of time, in silence or with the aid of chanting, for religious or spiritual purposes or as a method of relaxation. -Dictionary definition.

How do you define something so vastly mind altering and soul shifting? Meditation is so much more than a “religious or spiritual” practice. It is the practice of training the mind to focus, to increase memory, brain function, attention span, life longevity, and to decrease stress, anxiety and fatigue.

Not sure where to start or feel like you cant “quiet” your mind? That’s okay, you aren’t the only one. Try a daily ritual of waking up, sitting up straight in a comfortable position in your bed, close your eyes, inhale deeply and exhale through the nose, continue this breath. Now bring your awareness to your mind, cultivate an intention or a positive affirmation as if it is happening right now, such as; “I am happy, I am healthy, I am where I need to be".” Repeat your intention to yourself any time the mind begins to wander off. Continue this for 5 minutes every morning when you wake up and every evening before bed. When you feel you have mastered that, move to 10 minutes each morning and night.

The above practice is a great way to start getting your mind in the meditation zone.
